TARPON TOUR SCHEDULE

Miller High Life Professional Tarpon
Tournament Series has Record Setting Day
TION

Boca Grande, Fla., May 25, 2008 - The Miller High Life Professional Tarpon Tournament Series presented by Century Boats held Week #2 of its five week regular series events this past weekend in Boca Grande Pass, FL.  A sold out field of fifty, four person teams competed in the three hour event.

After five days of unseasonal weather and wind conditions the weather pattern finally changed and with it the fishing did as well.  121 Tarpon were hooked with 59 being leader released, and 15 fish reaching the Wing House Weighboat for a total of 2190 lbs. of Tarpon being weighed in.  The 59 releases in the single day event is the largest number on record for any single day Tarpon tournament.  The numbers of fish were impressive but the size of the catches was not far behind.

Captain Ron Scott and Team Fish It weighed the first fish of the day twenty-seven minutes into the event at 174 lbs.  “We knew it was a pig.  We thought it was a winner”, said Scott.  Scott’s thinking was in line, as many previous PTTS events have been won with 170 lb class fish.  Team Fish It’s hopes for victory were shattered thirty minutes later when Team Howard Leasing brought a fish in that tipped the Tires Plus scale at 190 Lbs, the largest fish weighed during the 2008 season.

“I couldn’t be happier.”, said Howard.  Howard, who captained another teams boat last year, formed his own team for the 2008 series, consisting of friends and his father CJ Howard.  With the victory the team won a new Century 2102 Inshore powered by a Yamaha F150 four stroke motor and Continental aluminum trailer.

At the top of the release list was Captain Jeff Hagaman’s Team Century/Odyssey Batteries.  He and his crew successfully landed and released six Tarpon during the event with two of the fish coming a mere 18 minutes a part.

“This was the best bite I have ever seen in Boca Grande”, said Hagaman.  “We never hooked the right fish, but my team did a great job.”

With the six releases Hagaman and crew took the lead in the Yamaha Team of the Year Race from fellow Century teammate Cody Chivas and his Salt Rock Grille/Pro Marine team.

The Miller High Life PTTS season continues next Sunday, June 1st with the series double header event.

The Miller High Life PTTS presented by Century Boats is the largest and richest live-release tarpon tournament in the world, featuring five regular season events and one championship event all held in Boca Grande Pass, Fla.   Teams may weigh one fish daily and obtain points towards the Yamaha Team of the Year Race by releasing placing, weighing and releasing fish.  Camera crews are on hand during the PTTS to capture the action for a 13-week television series that airs on Sun Sports Network and World Fishing Network. This year the show will be available in over 37 million households nationwide and in Canada
