“Flats Class In Session”
Boca Grande, Fla., May 27, 2007 – The Miller High Life Professional Tarpon Tournament Series (PTTS) presented by Century Boats held their second event of their five event and Championship series Sunday.
Strong East winds kept the fishing action slow in an event that only saw six Tarpon weighed in and only eight others landed. Atypical Southwest Florida weather has made Tarpon fishing in Boca Grande very difficult. Couple unseasonable weather with packs of Bull Sharks roaming Boca Grande Pass and conditions have not been ideal for the Miller High Life PTTS events.
After having a potentially winning fish devoured by a large Hammerhead shark during Week 1, Team Flats Class, led by Capt. Ray Van Horn, had the tables turn during Week 2. Al Keller hooked the fish late in the tournament and was able to get it boatside as regulation time ended. On the scales it registered at 144 lbs., overtaking Team Maverick/Ingman Marine’s 116 lb. Tarpon which had led the event most of the day.
The chase for the Tarpon cup continues next week with a doubleheader event, Week #3 and Week #4 of the series. The third and fourth event will be held Sunday, June 3th from 7:00 am to 1:30 PM |
