“The Price is right!”
Boca Grande, Fla., May 20, 2007 – The Miller High Life Professional Tarpon Tournament Series (PTTS) presented by Century Boats held their first event of their five event and Championship series Sunday.
The fishing action was subdued at best. In a tournament series which is known for numerous hookups and fish being landed, this event ended with only six fish being weighed, and only 18 others leader released.
Captain Artie Price and “Team Raymarc.net” displayed why they are the two time Yamaha Team of the Year Champions by excelling during tough conditions to successfully hook, fight, and weigh a 160 lb. Tarpon to win the 1st series event and place themselves in a familiar spot on top of the Yamaha Team of the Year Race leaderboard.
“We got lucky.” Says Price, “The gear we use doesn’t get bit as often in clear water. The wind dirtied the water, we got bit, and it was the right one.”
With the victory Price and Team Raymarc.net won a 2007 Century 2102 Bay Boat powered by a Yamaha F150 motor, loaded with GLoomis Pass Rods, and a Continental Aluminum Trailer. The package valued at $35,000. Following Raymarc.net in 2nd Place was Team Paradise Pools led by Dick Whitfoth weighing a Tarpon at 148lbs. Rounding out the Top 3 was Capt. Andy Boyette and Team San Carlos Marine with a 134 lb Tarpon.
The chase for the Tarpon cup continues next week for Week #2 of the series. The second event will be held Sunday, May 27th from 9:00 am to 12:00 PM. |
