| Today the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series (PTTS) announced that Miller High Life is the new title sponsor of the organization's 2007 series.
"We're excited about our renewed partnership with Miller Brewing Co.," said Joe Mercurio, VP of PTTS owners the Tarpon Anglers Club. "Since 2003, Miller High Life has been a major sponsor of the PTTS. They have witnessed the growth of the tournament series and sport, and realize the benefit of sponsoring this sports property."
"Miller High Life has deep roots in fishing and the outdoors," said Katie Knight, Miller Brewing's senior marketing manager for Florida. "The PTTS is a perfect venue to showcase our award-winning product, and show the millions of fishermen nationwide that we truly believe with every cast they are living the 'high life.'"
In past years, Miller High Life has sponsored the Eye on the Environment segment featured in each PTTS TV show, and has sponsored a PTTS fishing team – and will continue to do both.
In addition to that plus the title sponsorship, Miller High Life will sponsor a new Safe Boating Tip segment which will air during each episode of the PTTS television show. Mercurio, who also is the host of the PTTS show, will be making more than 50 appearances statewide promoting boating safety and Miller's Live Responsibly Program.
"Miller Brewing Co. is committed to ensuring the public 'Boats Smart and Drinks Safe,'" Knight said. "We hope Joe's interaction with consumers will bring awareness to the public that they need to ensure they do both."
Century, Yamaha Remain Sponsors
For the fourth year in a row, Yamaha-owned Century Boats will be the presenting sponsor of the PTTS events and television show.
"We are pleased to enter our fourth year as a sponsor of the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series," said Dean Burnett, VP and GM of Century Boats. "Based upon previous years' success of the tournament series and television show, we are looking forward to another successful year. The PTTS is the perfect venue for us to showcase our growing lineup of inshore saltwater boats."
During each of the five qualifying tournaments, teams will be competing for a 1st prize that includes a Century 2102 Bay Boat with a Yamaha F150 EFI 4-stroke engine and a Continental aluminum trailer. In total, the PTTS will pay out nearly $250,000 in cash and prizes throughout the series.
Yamaha itself will once again sponsor the PTTS Team of the Year Race. This incentive program awards an additional $1,000 each week to the 1st-place team if the vessel used during the tournament is outfitted with a Yamaha engine. The Yamaha Team of the Year will receive a Yamaha F250 V6 4-Stroke engine.
