Century Boats Reaffirms Sponsorship of 2006 Professional Tarpon Tournament Series
PANAMA CITY, Fla., May 4, 2006 -- Century Boat Company is once again gearing up for its sponsorship as the presenting sponsor of the 2006 Professional Tarpon Tournament Series (PTTS).   The televised series is the largest live-release tarpon tournament in the state of Florida, with a sold out field of fifty teams competing in the five regular season events and one championship event in a live-release format held in Boca Grande Pass, Fla.

"We are very excited about the strong participation for the 2006 events.  We have fifty teams, comprised of 200 anglers from all over the country competing each week." Says Joe Mercurio, Vice President of the Tarpon Anglers Club.   "This is a sporting event.  Unlike any other fishing event we combine close competitive action, a mix of veteran and young gun participants, and world class fishing to produce a television show that is unmatched in the fishing and outdoor world."

Century Boats will provide first-place prizes for each event in the series.  Winners will receive a Century 1902 Bay Boat powered by a F115 Yamaha four-stroke engine and Continental aluminum trailer.   The winner of the Jim Beam Tarpon Cup Championship featuring the series top 25 teams based on points will receive a Century 2202 Bay Boat rigged with a Four Stroke 225 HP Yamaha engine.

Mercurio added that the 2006 PTTS television show is going to exceed expectations.  "PTTS television for two years has been one of the most viewed shows on Sun Sports the past two years.   Now the show will has the potential to reach over 40 million homes around the USA through Sun Sports, the Water Channel and World Fishing Network."

The PTTS will be filmed and broadcast on the Sun Sports Network, the Water Channel, and the World Fishing Network.   The 13-week series will be available in over 40 million homes across the USA and begins airing on June 29th.  Last year's PTTS featured several memorable moments, including the successful catch and release of a 216-pound tarpon by Team Century's Kenny Hyatt - a Boca Grande Pass record.

The 2006 PTTS qualifying events will be held May 21, May 28, June 4, and June 11.  The Tarpon Cup Championship will be held June 18.   A non-series Ladies Day Tournament will be held on May 20 and will benefit the Preeclampsia Foundation.  For more information and television air times visit www.tarponanglersclub.com
